Why
We Live with Animals
Poems
by Alvin Greenberg
Why
We Live with Animals is a collection of more than sixty
humorous sonnets that meditate, elaborate, equivocate,
and explicate on the question of why we live with animals.
Pigs, cats, dogs, and chickadees parade across these
pages as objects of love, table conversation, protectors,
companions, and spectators of our souls. Complemented
by original wood engravings by Gaylord Schanilec, this
book is the perfect gift for the literate animal lover.
Alvin
Greenberg lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota with his dog,
Daisy, and his cat, Nora. Born in Cincinnati and educated
at the Universities of Cincinnati and Washington, he
is the author of three novels including The Invention
of the West, three short story collections including
The Man in the Cardboard Mask from Coffee House, and
numerous books of poetry, including Heavy Wings.
