Minnesota State Fair: An Illustrated History
KATHRYN STRAND KOUTSKY AND LINDA KOUTSKY

Kathryn Strand Koutsky is an award-winning designer whose breadth of work has encompassed major projects in the Upper Midwest and a variety of notable interior and architectural design assignments across the country. Her work has been featured in numerous newspapers and magazines including Better Homes and Gardens, Yachting World, and Midwest Living.

Linda Koutsky is a graphic designer and illustrator. Her Downtown Journal column, The Lunchtime Tourist, explores art, architecture, and cultural curiosities in downtown Minneapolis. In summer months, Linda spends time pasting tiny seeds onto boards as she makes crop art for the Minnesota State Fair. After winning four Blue Ribbons in four years, she now exhibits in the Advanced category.

As mother and daughter, Kathryn and Linda, who both make their homes in Minneapolis, share a lifelong affection for history and antiques, which led to their bestselling illustrated histories Minnesota Eats Out, a Minnesota Book Award finalist, and Minnesota Vacation Days. For Minnesota State Fair, their third collaboration, the Koutskys were given complete access to the Fair’s extensive archive of rare documentation and historical information to bring us this first-of-its-kind compendium. Fairgoers since childhood, they continue to take turns pulling each other along to rides and booths every year.
