Ron Padgett is a celebrated memoirist, translator, and “thoroughly American poet, coming sideways out of Whitman, Williams, and New York Pop with a Tulsa twist” (Peter Gizzi). His poetry has been translated into sixteen languages and has appeared in The Best American Poetry, Poetry 180,The Norton Anthology of Postmodern American Poetry, and The Oxford Book of American Poetry, as well as on Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac.
In addition to receiving grants and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Foundation for Contemporary Art, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Padgett was made an Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government. He lives in New York City and Calais, Vermont.
